A. Desktop

A desktop computer is a personal computer designed for regular use at a single location, such as on or near a desk or table, due to its size and power requirements.

 

A desktop computer is a personal computing device designed to fit on top of a typical office desk. It houses the physical hardware that makes a computer run and connects to input devices such as the monitor, keyboard, and mouse, which users interact with.

A. Desktop

B. Wallpaper

 

A wallpaper or background (also known as a desktop wallpaper, desktop background, desktop picture, or desktop image) is a digital image (such as a photo or drawing) used as a decorative background on the graphical user interface of a computer, smartphone, or other electronic devices.

The Windows Desktop

The Windows desktop is the starting point for all Windows operations. It contains important elements such as:

Icons

Start Button

Taskbar

Common Desktop Icons and Their Functions

 

My Computer (This PC)

When this icon is opened, it displays the contents of your computer, including:

Hard drive

Floppy disk drive (if available)

CD/DVD drive

Application packages

Folders and files

2. Recycle Bin
This is where objects (files, programs, etc.) that are no longer needed are placed by the computer until you empty the bin. Items in the bin can be retrieved if you realize that you may still need such items. However, once the bin is emptied, you can no longer retrieve the items.

3. My Documents
This is a folder for storing other folders, files, and documents.

4. Taskbar
At the bottom of the screen, you will find the taskbar. This contains the start button and rectangles that represent any applications that are being used on the system.

 

5. Start Button
Clicking the start button displays a menu from which you can choose to open an application, open a document, find a file or folder, get help, or shut down the computer.

FUNCTIONS OF THE DESKTOP

The main functions of the Desktop Browser are as follows:

Managing/Monitoring Documents/Folders.

Disposing, printing, faxing, sending via e-mail documents and folders, and circulating documents by using a drag-and-drop operation.

Running modules or external applications to edit documents.

Saving scanning results and remote scanning results directly into libraries.

Performing both simple and detailed searches.

Converting files to PDF with a single-click operation.

Simple division of document contents for the page in the preview display or the currently selected page.

HOW TO CREATE A FOLDER ON THE DESKTOP

Each file in a computer has to be given a name. Folders (or directories) are used for holding documents. They allow users to group together documents and files that are similar. That is, similar files are grouped together in a folder.

Steps to Create a Folder on the Desktop:

 

Right-click the mouse in any clear area on the desktop.

When the menu appears, select New.

On the menu, select Folder.

To do so, right-click Start, choose Open Windows Explorer, and then browse to locate the file you want to delete.

In Windows Explorer, right-click the file or folder that you want to delete and then choose Delete.
