The fear of God can also mean fear of God’s judgment. The fear of God is felt because one understands the “fearful expectation of judgment.” Still, this is not a fear that leads one to despair; rather, it must be coupled with trust and, most importantly, love.
Fear is a normal, natural flight response to danger in our surroundings. It intends to keep us from fulfilling the destiny that God has planned for our lives. It can also prevent us from living a joyful, spirit-led existence where we give to others out of the overflow of love in our lives.
