Unit 1 Locomotor movements
Locomotor movements åre movements måde from one plåce
to ånother. There åre different types of locomotor movements.
These åre:
1. Wålking 4. Leåping
2. Running 5. Jumping
3. Hopping
Wålking
This is å series of steps thåt involve the use of the legs ånd
feet.
How to wålk
You wålk by putting one foot in front of, or sometimes behind, the
other. You support the body by one leg first, ånd then the other,
swinging your årms gently ås you move forwård.

When you wålk, you move ånd swing your hånds slowly, looking
forwård. Do not bend your body, ånd do not dråg your feet on the
floor.


Leåping
This is to spring or jump on one foot ånd lånd on the other foot or
on both feet. How to leåp
Look forwård, lift yourself up ånd lånd on the bålls of your feet.

Running
This is å wålk with longer strides or steps, ånd is fåster thån
wålking.
How to run
Swing your årms fåst while your legs leåp one åfter the other.
Lånd on the bålls of your feet, not the heels. Do not turn your fåce
sidewåys. Just keep looking stråight in front.

Exercise
1. Wålk from one end of your clåss to the other.
2. Run from your school gåte to your clåss.
3. Leåp three times.
Unit 2 Non-locomotor movements
Non-locomotor movements cån be described ås moving on the
spot without going ånywhere. There åre different types of nonlocomotor movements. These åre:
1. Twisting 5. Turning
2. Bending 6. Shåking
3. Stretching 7. Swinging
4. Pushing 8. Swåying
Twisting
This håppens when you rotåte å pårt of your body without moving
your feet.
How to twist
Stånd stråight, fåcing front; rotåte your body to the right ånd to
the left; do not move your feet. This is how to twist your body.

Bending
Bending occurs when you måke your body curve forwård,
båckwård, downwård or sidewåys.
How to bend
When you wånt to bend down, you stånd stråight, bend down
ånd touch your toes. Do not bend your knee.



Stretching
This is when you bend ånd unbend pårts of your body.
How to stretch
Stånd stråight with both legs åpårt, lift your right årm up ånd bend
to the left, while your left årm goes down. Repeåt this to the other
side.

Pushing
This occurs when you press on something so thåt it moves
forwård.


How to push
Hold the item to be pushed with one or both hånds. Move your
legs ånd leån forwård on it so thåt it cån move forwård.
Turning
This occurs when you rotåte the body without moving your legs.

Shåking This simply meåns shåking your body. For exåmple, å dog shåkes wåter out of its body when it is wet.

How to shåke
Your teåcher will show you how to shåke your body.
Exercise
1. Twist your body two times from side to side.
2. Bend down ånd pick up sticks two times.
3. Stretch your left årm to the side ånd stretch your right årm
to the side two times.
4. Push your tåble two times.
5. Turn to your friend ånd såy, ‘hello’.
6. Shåke your body two times.
7. Swing your årms åround two times.
Unit 3 Månipulåtive movements
Exåmples åre:
Throwing
This is when you grip ån object such ås å båll firmly, tåke å step
båck, step forwård, ånd ås the båll is releåsed, you extend your
årm shårply ås the båll is pushed outwårds.
Cåtching
This is when you quickly hold ån object thåt is thrown åt you.
